Taiyuan Iron & Steel (Group) Co., LTD. (referred to as "Taiyuan Iron & Steel Group") is a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Baowu Steel Group Co., Ltd. and a platform company for the integrated operation of the stainless steel industry. Taiyuan Iron & Steel (Group) Co., Ltd. was founded in 1934. Its predecessor was the Northwest Steelmaking Plant under the Northwest Industrial Company established during the Republic of China period. At the beginning of the founding of the People's Republic of China, it was positioned by the state to develop special steel. It successively produced China's first batch of stainless steel, the first hot-rolled silicon steel sheet, and the first electromagnetic pure iron. It is also the birthplace of China's first stainless steel refining furnace, the first stainless steel vertical slab continuous casting machine, the first cold-rolled stainless steel production line, the first cold-rolled wide strip stainless steel bright annealing line, and the first stainless steel cold and hot coil mixed annealing and pickling line.
